Property Team Ministry
The Property Team is responsible for the care, maintenance, safety, and appearance of the church buildings and grounds throughout the year. This volunteer team works to ensure that the church campus remains welcoming, functional, and safe for worship services, ministries, events, and community activities.
Responsibilities of the Property Team include:
- Maintaining church buildings, equipment, and outdoor spaces
- Coordinating seasonal property clean-up and landscaping
- Managing lawn care, tree trimming, flowerbeds, and parking lot upkeep
- Scheduling and overseeing inspections for fire alarms, fire extinguishers, and backflow systems
- Monitoring HVAC systems and changing furnace filters
- Organizing floor cleaning, carpet shampooing, and general indoor maintenance
- Preparing and maintaining equipment such as lawn equipment, snowblowers, hay wagons, and parade wagons
- Reviewing service contracts and property management plans
- Supporting church events through property setup and preparation
- Assisting with safety, snow removal, and seasonal facility readiness
- Preparing annual property reports and planning for future maintenance needs
The Property Team plays an important role in stewarding the church’s facilities and grounds so they can continue to serve the congregation and community effectively.
Serving on the Property Team is also a great way to meet people within the church, build friendships, and work together in a hands-on ministry. Whether you enjoy working outdoors, fixing things, organizing projects, or simply don’t mind getting your hands “dirty,” there is always a way to help and be part of the team.

January
· Change furnace filters
February
· Review IDNR Forest Management Plan
March
· Fire alarm inspection – Fox Valley Fire & Safety 847-695-5990
· Fire extinguishers inspected
April
· Tune up lawn equipment
· Fertilize lawn
May
· Outdoor Property Clean Up; De-weed parking lot islands and rent flail mower.
· Purchase mulch for flower beds
· Cut grass and trim bushes/trees on a weekly basis
June
· Indoor Property Clean up; Strip/Wax/Buff tile floors and shampoo carpets. Clean windows and vacuum HVAC returns.
· Sealcoat parking lot every 3 years.
· Change furnace filters and clean central vacuum filter
· Fertilize lawn
· Cut grass, trim bushes/trees, and weed flowerbeds/islands on a weekly basis
July
· Prep wagon for 4th of July parade
· Cut grass, trim bushes/trees, and weed flowerbeds/islands on a weekly basis
August
· Backflow inspection
· Fertilize lawn
· Cut grass, trim bushes/trees, and weed flowerbeds/islands on a weekly basis
September
· Review snow removal contract
· Cut grass, trim bushes/trees, and weed flowerbeds/islands on a weekly basis
October
· Outdoor Property Clean Up; Rent chipper and stump grinder
· Set up enchanted woods
· Prepare hay wagon for trunk or treat event
· Cut grass, trim bushes/trees, and weed flowerbeds/islands on a weekly basis
November
· Tune up snowblower and purchase bags of salt
December
· Annual Report
